Dogs and Cats
Trout Lake Animal Hospital and Urgent Care cares for dogs and cats from our hospital on Kingsway, and urgent care is part of every day we are open. A pet who is hurt or suddenly unwell can be walked in and seen by a veterinarian during business hours, while routine visits are booked ahead with the same team.
That means one hospital for your pet’s whole life. The people who vaccinate your puppy or kitten are the ones who see them the evening they cut a paw or eat something they shouldn’t.
We are independently owned and operated, so decisions about your pet’s care are made by the veterinarians who examine them, not a head office.
Learn MoreBring any past vaccine and medical records to your first visit so your veterinarian starts with your pet’s full history.
Learn MoreOur team speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi and more, so every pet parent leaves understanding the diagnosis and the plan.
Learn MorePets booked for a scheduled procedure drop off between 8 and 9 am, so they are settled in before the day’s work begins.

When your dog or cat is hurt or suddenly unwell, you don’t need an appointment. Walk in any time during business hours, until 10 pm Monday to Friday and 7 pm on weekends, and a veterinarian will examine your pet, explain what is going on and start treatment.
Come straight in if your pet has eaten something toxic, is vomiting or has diarrhea that won’t settle, is limping, bleeding or struggling to breathe, or is straining to urinate. Calling (604) 559-1800 on the way lets the team know you are coming.

A yearly nose-to-tail exam is where most problems are caught early, from weight gain and sore joints to lumps and heart murmurs. Your veterinarian also talks through parasite prevention, nutrition and what to watch for as your pet ages.

Puppies and kittens start with a series of core vaccines, then adults stay protected with boosters timed to how they live. A dog who spends every morning at the off-leash park needs a different schedule than an indoor cat.

Dental disease in dogs and cats rarely shows until it hurts. A dental cleaning under anesthesia lets your veterinarian clean below the gumline, check every tooth and treat problems before they spread.

Spaying or neutering prevents unplanned litters and lowers your pet’s risk of some cancers and infections. Your pet is examined before anesthesia, and you leave with clear aftercare instructions for the recovery at home.
Learn More
Soft tissue surgery covers procedures such as lump and mass removals and wound repair. Your pet is monitored throughout anesthesia and goes home with pain relief and a recheck plan for a comfortable recovery.

Ultrasound gives a real-time look at the abdomen, bladder and other organs without surgery. It helps your veterinarian find the cause of ongoing vomiting, urinary trouble or unusual bloodwork and decide on the right treatment.
