Pet Dentistry

Your pet’s health should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of a problem and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy. At advanced stages, dental disease can significantly impact a pet’s quality of life, making eating difficult due to mouth pain. Plus, bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream and cause heart, liver, and kidney complications. Keeping up with the cleanliness of your pet’s mouth and their overall dental health can prevent years of discomfort and lost teeth.

Have your pet’s teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:

  • Broken or loose teeth
  • Bad breath
  • Extra teeth or retained baby teeth
  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Pain in or around the mouth
  • Swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth
  • Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
  • Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
  • Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar

Trout Lake Animal Hospital and Urgent Care has state-of-the-art dental equipment including digital dental x-rays which enables us to accurately diagnose and treat your pet’s dental health. Most dental disease occurs below the gum line where it cannot be seen. Using x-rays enables us to be proactive in our approach to dental health.

We also provide a wide range of dental services, from regular checkups and cleaning to extractions.
